Use a single map or several maps in your work

The coverage map and the objects on it are displayed on the screen using JavaScript libraries. This also means that the browser of the specific device where the map is being viewed has to bear the brunt of the load. In this way, on faster computers, the map operates faster almost regardless of the characteristics of the server where UserSide is installed.

We are continually researching performance and refining our maps to optimise their performance.

In earlier versions of UserSide (before version 3.5) there was an issue with the performance of coverage maps with many objects mapped on them. When opening a map, all the objects that are mapped on that map are loaded and this causes slow and uncomfortable operation of the map. As a consequence, many customers used multiple cards and placed their network on them in segments.

Since that time, however, much experience has been gained and we have optimised the algorithms. Firstly, when you open the map, only the objects which are currently on the screen are displayed (not the whole map), and when you zoom/move the map, the new objects are loaded. Secondly, at a certain zoom - some object types are not displayed (because they won't be visible anyway) and are only loaded when zooming in. There are a number of other minor but ultimately comfort-enhancing improvements.

Therefore - we recommend that all objects are placed on the same map. The only exceptions, in our opinion, are when working with your own maps in the form of images (static pictures/plans).

As far as the access restrictions for staff members to objects on the same map are concerned - this is solved by the setting in 'Users - Accounts'. In it, the accessibility of geographical locations is configured for each staff member. In this way, each user will only see on the shared map what he or she is allowed to see by geographical access.

For any address object (city, street, district, building, etc.) can be assigned its own coordinates on this general map and a flag can be set whether to display a quick link to it in the main menu. This is useful because it allows moving quickly to the correct coordinates on the map and to the correct scale.
